Cape Coral

Today was a low key day for us. We slept great and had a lovely time with GranDad and GramPam.

Just after sunrise at Fort Myer Beach.
Momma wanted to see this beach before we left so we got up early and went. It worked out well to go early since it is a holiday weekend and it will be packed all day with tourists and locals. Needless to say, we did not go swimming. Way too cold for that at 7:30.

On our way to lunch we stopped at the Rotary Park Glover Bight Trail in Cape Coral. It was a trail full of Mangrove trees that Momma just loved.

There was a small observation platform that we had another great view from. The Mangroves seemed to go on and on.

The Gulf of Mexico on Captiva Island.

Momma wanted to do a meal for GranDad's birthday so that was the main focus for the day. He decided to take us to Sanibel and Captiva Islands for a beautiful drive and a lunch outside. The restaurant he had thought of had a guitar player that would serenade us as we ate but the guitar player wasn't there so we kept going and found another place that turned out to be just lovely.

The Mucky Duck

Our waitress was awesome and let us bring in a key lime pie and even brought us a knife and a lighter so we could have birthday pie for GranDad.

Delicious key lime pie after a delicious lunch of fish and chips and crab cake sandwiches.

Happy 80th Birthday GranDad!!
