We left Cape Coral early this morning and set off on a trip down memory lane for Momma. She wanted to find houses for all her Spanish relatives and we were very lucky, and Momma's memory proved to be very accurate, and we were able to find almost of all of them.
First stop for the day was Bradenton where Maureen and West lived. This was the mansion where they lived. It looked so good and it was exactly as I remembered from my 5-year-old memory.
The Sunshine Skyway bridge into Tampa Bay.
This is America Gonzalez's house on Indian Rocks beach. Momma would come here for summers with her brothers and her mom and they would stay for weeks and would sleep outside on the patio and play at the beach, mere steps away.
America's house was on 21st Avenue and this beach was her Oceanside. She was so excited to find it.
This was her house on Drexel Avenue where her family lived while GranDad was in Vietnam and where she went to fifth grade.
Sheila's cousin Rene and Mary Gonzalez met us for lunch at the Columbia for some traditional Cuban food and family stories.

That's so neat she got to revisit where she grew up.
ReplyDeleteLots of good memories of the Bradenton house. I would have knocked on the door and asked to look around, but thats just me.
