Nauvoo, Illinois

We spent Thursday night in Iowa which is right across the Mississippi River from Nauvoo, Illinois, our ultimate destination for the days activities. We first went to Carthage, Illinois which is about 20 miles southeast of Nauvoo. A somber visit to say the least.

 The mighty Mississippi

Our lodgings for the night. A local family run establishment. Rather quaint, but extremely comfortable.

The Trail of Hope leading down to the Mississippi.

Before the Nauvoo Pageant starts at dusk there is a fair of sorts complete with bagpipes and

 an old school theatre.

The temple from the pageant site.
