Bath

Friday was the last daytrip and it was to the lovely southwest town of Bath. It is called Bath because of the natural hot water spring that the Roman's harnessed into spa type things. It was cool to see them and it reminded me of Rome (obviously) with the Forum and the architecture and the Alhambra in Granada, Spain with the free-flowing water.

The entrance to the baths.

Original stones and walls and, if you look closely, you can see the steam and the little fall in this crevice. When close to the water everything smelled like sulfur. I'm not sure why. Maybe all the naturalness or something.

All the walls and stuff that have been here since 43 AD just fascinate me to no end.

And yes, the water really is hot enough for all this steam. It stays at about 45 degrees Celsius which is 113 degrees Fahrenheit. The perfect spa temperature if you ask me. Certainly warm enough for Momma I think.

Bath has also been home to many authors that have featured the town in their novels, like Jane Austen. The nerd in me wanted to go see her house instead of eat lunch and it was so worth it.
