Scotland: Day 2

We got on the road in the rain and the cold this morning. We had a lot of luck yesterday with the sun out but it didn't hold. Although, this is much more what Scotland is like 360 days a year according to our guide, so it was nice to experience.

Invermoriston Bridge.

Just a nice looking bridge with a stream underneath.

Eilean Donan Castle.

This is a castle that is still being lived in today, but it often gets rented out for weddings (there was one today actually) and movies. Tomorrow Never Dies, Entrapment, and The Princess Bride to name few.

Right across Loch Duich is Skye bridge. This is how you get onto the Isle of Skye. There was a school event where the children put all different tartans on the bridge. It was extremley windy and cold but great fun to walk across. One of the girls on the bus asked what tartan was and it was hilarious to watch our guide try and explain it. (It's a wool cloth in a particular color and pattern. Just think of a kilt and that's tartan.)

It had stopped raining so we planned a hike but when we got to the spot it had stated back up again. We all still wanted to go so we went for a hike in the rain!! Mount Old Men of Stoor and we climbed halfway up. The view was still breathtaking and the hike in the rain was totally worth the muddy shoes and soaked pants. :)

We had a stop off at Kilt Rock to see the rock and the waterfall. We were right on the water so the wind was pretty strong.

There are some beautiful waterfalls that were more easily accessible so we stopped at one of them. The water was so fresh and cold.

There is a stream that runs into a loch that a Wee Little Fairy back in the day put a spell on that if you stick your face in the water for 7 seconds your wish will come true. It was absolutely freezing water but it made for some good amusement.
